March 31, 2008

Danny Levinson, chief executive officer of BDL Media Ltd, a leading direct marketing company in China, participated in the Wharton China Business Forum this past weekend in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the United States.

Levinson participated in the Tourism & Leisure panel along with Richard Roberts, VP Communications at Wyndham; Professor Qu Hailin from Oklahoma State; and Professor Robert Li from University of South Carolina. Jehoshua Eliashberg, the Sebastian S. Kresge Professor of Marketing and Professor of Operations and Information Management at Wharton was the moderator of the panel.

Wit the theme of "Global Perspective: Meeting China's Rise", the forum focused on business issues in the Middle Kingdom. Wharton China Business Forum is one of the programs of the Wharton China Business Society, a professional student-run organization at the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania. The organization is comprised of 5 major programs and 100 undergraduate student officers, focusing on providing activities and programs that improve our understanding of China's business landscape and markets.

The Business Forum is the oldest and largest program in the Wharton China Business Society. Consisting of over 60 members, the Business Forum holds an annual conference in the spring for Chinese business professionals as well as students and members of the local community. In the past the Business Forum has hosted notable speakers from such companies like Citigroup, Boshi and UPS.

This Tourism & Leisure panel called attention to the struggles and successes in China's evolving tourism and leisure industries while highlighting the numerous cultural, social, and political factors that affect them. With an expanding economy and a government that has become more internationally conscientious, China holds tremendous potential within its tourism and leisure industries.
